The snow was a welcome sight here for the Dogs, Handlers and the Musher.
It was great to get back running on snow and finally say goodbye to the wet, rain soaked trails.
This week, we were able to run four days and increased the lengths of our runs the last two days to seven miles. The dogs enjoyed running farther and showed no signs of fatigue. We also tried some new dogs at lead giving Lilly, Pippin and Lance an opportunity in front. Lilly, Pippin did very good. However, Lance had a team of females in heat and had other things on his mind other than concentrating on running. He finished the run at Lead even though he had moments were he would rather do something else with his female partner.
Boys will be boys!
Next time we try him at lead will be when the females are out of season.
Along with the snow, we got some very cold temperatures at -11 celsius during the day with a windchill of -20's.
The new handlers arrived Monday, Rebecca and Joe are fitting in very quickly.
We are very fortunate here to have three great Handler/Trainees.
Until next week......
