This has been a wild week here with sever weather. The first couple of days were punctuated with intense lightning/thunder storms that put on a wild display and thunder that shook the chalet as it echoed across the lake. There was also rain everyday causing a major cool down in temperatures.
With the cooler temperatures, thoughts of Fall Training are coming to mind. With the inclement weather, comfort food is a must and this week was no exception. The main positive focus of the week was the puppies. Their eyes are now open and they are all walking, although sometimes not too steady, busily moving around the whelping cabin. They are growing rapidly and getting quite plump. Indigo is certainly offering up some great milk and plenty of it. She is being a great mother and very attentive to their demanding needs. They are also starting to be inquisitive when Indigo is eating and starting to check out her food dish. Their routine is a brief time of activity, then eating and followed with a group nap. Check out the Puppy Page for a couple of videos at nap time. Until next week....... On August 1st , the puppies were two weeks old and oh, have they changed in such a short period of time.
They have grown, at least , three times the size they were when they were born. Four of them are now about the same size and the two smallest ones are catching up to their brothers & sisters. As of Saturday, their eyes were opened for the first time and they are all attempting to walk on "all fours". This week, there will be no stopping them. Indigo is being a very good mother and filling her puppies needs for nutrition. Libby (the white with black spots) is certainly enjoying her share plus. Libby has also found away to get out of the whelping house and into the exercise pen four times last week. This was all done before her eyes were open. The weather here was another week of mix with harm/humid days, storms and now cooler temperatures. The House Flies in the kennel have subsided for now. Hopefully, we are finished with them for another year. Lena returned this week after being bred to Trump, Laurent Gonsolins number one stud. Until next week....... |
