Soon a new season will commence here at Miortuk!
The dogs are ready, the equipment is ready and this week the Handler/Trainee for this season is in place.
It has been quite a journey over the years with some great adventures with some wonderful canine athletes.
The excitement for the first run still exist even after 50 years of running dogs.

It was a relatively quiet week here at Miortuk.
Warmer temperatures returned during the days with cooler nights.
Tuesday night a big storm with heavy rains, thunder and lightning.
It was areal light show!
Also some nice Sunsets.
A large flock of Canada Geese were spotted migrating South for the Winter.
This was the first of the season.
The dogs are all doing great and are in super shape for the upcoming season.
Still have an opening for a Handler/trainee for this season.

No matter what the season or the weather, there is always beauty here at Miortuk.
Whether beautiful colorful sunsets, morning Sun rising over a mirror lake or an approaching storm, there is always scenes of splendor. 
Fall is coming here with the trees starting to turn to there Autumn colors, cooler daytime and lower nighttime temperatures. The migrating Summer Birds are departing and of coarse the dogs are getting more excited in anticipation of the start of a new running season.
It is a nice time of the year.

After watching the DVD of the 2021 Iditarod Race, it brought back some great memories of the past.
Over the 50+ years of running dogs, most of my time was with distance racing.
I had some great dogs, wonderful teams and incredible adventures with my canine companions.
We got to race in Ontario, Quebec, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.
We met a lot of great people along the way and enjoyed the trail with some notable mushers.
The most memorial times were spent training in some of the most challenging times running in Sothern Ontario running cross country on an old abandoned railway line from Terracotta to Bolton. Passing along the way many suburban communities, crossing a 4 lane highway and transveressing an open sided railway bridge over a gorge. Crazy times!!!!
Then eventually, moving to the Northern Forest here in Quebec where there were miles of unpopulated forest trails with snow arriving in late October and leaving in late April. 
Also the advantage of training right out of my Dog Yard and not having to travel to my training sites as in Ontario.
Many challenges along the way!
But, also great memories thanks to all the great dogs that gave me these wonderful experiences.
