"EARLY MORNING MIST IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"
Picture
With the cooler nights and the relatively warm water, we are enjoying early morning mist or fog.
The weather this week has been interesting from cool to below freezing temperatures in the morning to warm/humid temperatures in the afternoon.
This week, we were able to get in 4 conditioning/training runs. We are still running with a 2 minute interval runs. This type of training utilizes a 2 minute run followed by a 2 minute rest. When the training was started this fall it was taking 12 segments to cover the 4.5 mile trail. This week the two teams now require only 10 intervals to cover the same 4.5 miles. The dogs enthusiasm and their ability cut the number of intervals from 12 to 10 displays the dogs conditioning is improving.
This week marked the beginning of Autumn and along with it the increasing number of flocks of Canada Geese migrating south for the Winter.
Can snow be that far away?
Until next week........

"GETTING READY TO GO!"
Picture
Riglis & Lightning are leaning into their harness awaiting the command to go. While Blackie is lunging in anticipation of the GO command.
It was a great week for running the dogs with getting in another successful 6 conditioning/training sorties. This is also a good time to try dogs in the Lead position and see how they can handle it. This week a 2 year old, Stormy, took hold of the opportunity and certainly didn't disappoint. She has all the makings of being a great leader and will get a regular stint in the lead position.
The weather this week continued to be beautiful. Even the little rain we received was through the night.
Until next week......

"ONLY THE LEAD DOGS GET A CHANGE OF SCENE!"
Picture
Yes, this will be the view I will have for the next 6 months!
It was a good week here with the start of conditioning/training runs.
I was able to get in 6 runs and it felt great running my dogs again.
If you would like to get to experience the feeling of running a team, go the "links section" and click on my You Tube Site and see 2 videos I downloaded of my first two runs on the 9Th of September. There will also be weekly updates in the "Training 2009/10" section of this Web Site.
The weather here this week was absolutely beautiful with cool evenings and warm, sunny afternoons.
Life here in the Northern Forest doesn't get much better.
Until next week.....

" THE START OF A NEW DAY IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"
Picture
This photo is just one of many beautiful scenes to be enjoyed at my chalet. Nature produces some spectacular views that I have the privilege of enjoying.
There has been a lot of bear sightings this year due to the lack of their normal food. They normally enjoy wild fruits and berries, but this year due to all the rain the normal supply is low to none existent. This is the time of the year that they increase their feed consumption to sustain them through their hibernation in the Winter months. They normally go into hibernation at the end of November.
I will be starting the conditioning runs with the dogs this week. This is an exciting time for both the dogs and me.
Until next week.......
