"ANOTHER UNSETTLED WEEK HERE IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"

4/29/2012

Here are a few photos documenting the weather here this week.
It started off on Monday with nice warm temperatures in the mid 20's. Tuesday morning waking up to 4-5" of wet snow. Wednesday warmer & melt. Thursday rain changing to wet snow late in the day with strong winds. Saturday sunny skies, warmer and continued strong winds.
That was last weeks weather, just crazy!
However, when there is no need to go any where, it is great to watch the changes that Mother Nature will through at us. There is no doubt the scenery was beautiful. The photos from the 27th & 28th shows the snow clinging to the branches of the trees on the other side of the lake. Thursday night, I had to go up on the roof of the chalet to clear the wet/clinging snow of the satellite dishes for communication reception.
Wednesday the chalet was converted to the new 4G satellite internet service from Xplornet. It is great!
The dogs just took the weather changes in stride and enjoyed playing in the fresh snow on Tuesday.
Most of the females in the kennel have been in heat, some came to heat last week and Angel is still making me wait. On her next heat cycle she will be bred to Tony, I hope!
Until next week......

"CRAZY SPRING WEATHER IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"

Yes, this was a crazy week weather wise from sunny mid 20's Celsius on  Monday & Tuesday, cooler on Thursday, snow on Friday and rain/snow mix on Saturday.
It was so warm Monday, that all the snow/ice that remained on the trail  melted. The last remaining ice flows on the lake also disappeared. Even the kennel, has almost no visages of the past Winter left & what water that was left from the melt disappeared.
However, the rain/snow mix at the end of the week was welcomed as the forest was getting dry making it prone to fires.
The forecast for next week is mostly rainy days with cool nights.
The dogs are taking the Weather in stride & seemed to enjoy seeing the snow again. Last years pups really enjoyed playing in the fresh fallen snow.
The breeding of Tony & Teal has been accomplished & if all goes to schedule the puppies should be born around the 9th of June.
With the warmer weather, the frogs nightly serenade became loader with more participants. Still no sign of the Loon, however, I thought I heard one on Friday. I expect that they will return soon.
A side note: We celebrated Earth Day here one day earlier thanks to Hydro Quebec turning off the power, for maintenance, here some time around 5am & it not returning until around 1pm.(with no prior notification of the power interruption)
Until next week.......

"SPRING TIME HAS FINALLY ARRIVED IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"

Yes, Spring has finally arrived here and what could be more enjoyable than sitting down on a Friday night watching Baseball, eating homemade pizza & having a beer!
LIFE SOMETIMES IS VERY GOOD!
The ice has all gone from the lake this week and the ground is all drying up. There is still some snow in the bush & the shaded areas on the training trail.
The dogs are enjoying the snow less kennel & doing their Spring thing of digging & house modifications.
This is the time of year that Spring breeding's are planned preparations are being made for Spring puppies.
The forest is starting to show rebirth with new buds on the trees, the sound of a Woodpecker making a new home in a tree and the Frogs starting their nightly chorus signifying the beginning of their breeding ritual.
Soon the Swallow & the Loon will return and along with them the hatching of the Black Flies.
The warmth of the Sun is a welcome relief to the cold of Winter.
ENJOY YOUR SPRING!
Until next week.......

"A CELEBRATION OF LIFE IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"

Last week I traveled back down to Ontario to attend the funeral of my Mother. She was only 6 days short of her 96th birthday and in relatively good health until the end.
What changes she has witnessed in her lifetime!
She was a loving mother & a devoted wife.
She was the youngest of a family of 10 children.
Her final wish was to join my Dad and now she does.
Rest in peace Mom!
Until next week.......

Last week I went to Ontario to visit my Mother & Family. It was nice getting to visit with my 95 year old Mother. As it turned out it will be my last visit with her as she passed way on Saturday. She lived a good life & in good health. We all should be so lucky. She will be greatly missed!
Here are some nice action shots from last Winter.
I am writing this on the train to attend my Mother's funeral.
Until next week......
