"Great Week With Special Surprises In The Northern Forest!"

It was a great week here with Special Gifts from friends.
First, was smoking up some Northern Pike given to me by Anthony and Laurent Gonsolin from their fishing trip in the Manawan.
Secondly, a beautiful hand crafted Wood Art of the Miortuk 2013/14 Open Team by Lila Pratt, France.
Thirdly, some great Arizona Spice mixes for rubs for BBQ'd Meat and some super healthy Oat Meal from Julia King, Arizona.
It is really wonderful to have such great friends.
Thank you for gifts and most importantly your friendship.
We had a day of heavy rain and thunder storms here this week.
We have been lucky getting weekly rains keeping the forest from getting too dry and a lush green.
It was a strange week with some days the Black Flies and the Mosquitoes being plentiful and annoying. Then the next day nothing.
Very bizarre!
The week is finishing with a beautiful, sunny, warm (bug free) day.
Until next week.......

Yes, it was a great week here for accomplishing and finalizing some of the plans for the 2015/16 Training/Racing Season.
This week the Handler/Trainee Positions for this season were finalized and filled.
I am very happy with the new members of the Miortuk Team and look foreword to their arrival here.
Would also like take this opportunity to thank all of the applicants for their interest and wish them all the best in their future adventures.
We had some equipment and truck issues that were all resolved.
The weather here this week was a nice mixture of sunny days and also of a couple of rainy days. Yes, rainy weather is appreciated in order to keep the forest from being too dry.
Unfortunately this has not been the case in Alaska where a major forest fire are decimating Kennels in the Mushing Community around Willow, Alaska.
Many mushers have lost their homes and most of their belongings.
The good news is all the canine and human inhabitants are safe and have been housed by other mushers and communities.
A big thank you to Eagle Pack Dog Food Company for supplying food to those in need.
If any one is interested in helping out with donations, they can go to the following website.
http://iditarod.com/help-dog-mushers-affected-by-the-fire/

This fire was caused by human neglect, in this case the use of Fireworks.
Again, please be careful of with flammables when visiting the forest.
We need your assistance to prevent forest fires.
Until next week.......

"Busy week In The Northern Forest!"

Yes, it was a busy week here with travel.
Tuesday, was the big shopping day that starts at 7am and finishes twelve hours later. This was the first shopping trip since the end of March.
Thursday, business in the village and tomorrow a four hour round trip for meat for the dogs.
Weather this week was a mix of hot/humid/rainy conditions mixed in a few beautiful sunny days.
It was also a week with some beautiful sunsets.
The wet weather produced perfect conditions for the Black Flies and the Mosquitoes. This week, they really made their presents known.
It also has produced an abundance of Butterflies.
So many, that the dogs are even getting bored chasing them.
However, the appearance of the rabbit still drives the dogs crazy!
Life here in the forest is very simple.
Just the way, I like it!
Until next week.......

"An Incredible Week For Sunsets In The Northern Forest!"

It was a great week here to witness some beautiful sunsets. The first five photos are a time lapse of one of them.
There is also three of an approaching storm and the sunset after.
This is truly a paradise!
There is also a photo of one of our daily visitors, who creates quite a lot of commotion with the dogs, especially the ones with more Pointer Cross in their breeding.
The weather again this week was a mixture of hot/humid/raining conditions and then sunny cool day days and cold evenings. A great mixture of conditions to enjoy the forest.
The forest is greening up and the trees now have their new vibrant green foliage.
Absolutely beautiful!
The dogs are enjoying the coolness of the evenings with playful interaction with each other and of coarse the Butterflies. While during the day basking in the Sun.
Bruno contacted me to inform me that both Tanya and Lizzy adapted quickly to their new home and are enjoying the company of their new kennel mates.
Applications are still being received for the Handler/Trainee for this coming season. If interested, please don't hesitate to apply!
Until next week.......
