It was a rainy week here with a major storm with heavy rain most of the day on Wednesday, more rain Thursday, Friday and also Saturday. Above are some photos of the storm on Wednesday evening. The lake has risen a minimum of six inches due to the volume of rain received.
This week also had very cool evenings and some of the trees are showing the first signs of the approach of Autumn.
In the photos above the Fireweed are in bloom and will be soon turning to seed. It is said when the this plant goes to seed the first snow will follow in six weeks. We will have to test this theory!
Michele went back home to Minnesota after spending a three week vacation here at Miortuk. It was a real pleasure having her back for a visit. The dogs will miss her especially the Hobbits and Cobalt.
The dog I would like to introduce this week is Indigo.
Indigo is Teal's sister, only one year younger. Like Teal, Indigo is a hard worker with plenty of speed. She will run any position in the team including Lead.
Indigo ran in the Open Team all last season mostly at Point or Lead. This year, she will run some races at co-lead with Roxie.
Indigo is terrific eater and drinker. She loves attention and will display her affection to anyone willing to spend time with her.
Indigo is also the guardian of the kennel and will alert me of any intruder, animal or human.
Indigo will be an instrumental part of my Open team!
