Last Sunday, we got wet snow and then rain throughout the evening. Luckily, with the new snow, the rain didn't turn all the trails to ice. The rain froze the upper layer of snow and was able to be broken up with the groomer leaving the trail with small balls of ice. This made the trails runable as long as the dogs were wearing booties. We were also fortunate that we received a few inches of snow on Tuesday night covering the ice balls on the trail. After spending several hours grooming on Monday and grooming every morning this week, the trails are in excellent condition.
Hard and Fast!
Monday was too cold to run the dogs. However, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday were excellent.
Tuesday & Wednesday, we only ran 4.5 miles due to the 3 day layoff and the condition on the trail. Friday, with cold temperatures(-18c) in the morning and a beautiful trail, we ran the Open Team 14 miles. This is the last longer run with the races coming up where they will be running from 10 to 15 miles.
The "B" Team ran a very fast 4.5 miles on Friday.
All the dogs are healthy and happy!!!!
The puppies are really getting big and will probably start running in harness soon. Very excited to see how they work their first time.
Next week, there will be some updated photos of them.
Hopefully, next week the race at L'Epiphanie will happen.
Until next week.......
