We were able to run five days this week with two 10 dog teams per day. The runs consisted of two 4.5 mile runs and three 7 mile runs.
The dogs handled the training schedule without any problem. Soon we will be increasing the length of runs to 10 miles.
Friday afternoon, we received several inches of wet snow followed by a rainy drizzle Friday evening through Saturday late afternoon. Saturday evening the temperatures dropped to below freezing and now all the trails are hard packed ice. We are now in a position requiring some new snow before we can run safely again.
That is life up here in the Northern Forest with the elements dictating what training you can do. This is why, we take advantage of the good trail conditions when we can.
Until next week and think snow........
