Hey there Stan,
I just went for a 65km run with my gal pal Myriam who trains her pooches for mid to long distance racing(100 mile runs for now) yesterday and it was wild!!!I've been dogsledding for 4 yrs now but yesterday was my first taste of extreme survival having almost lost our sled with 13 dogs attached to it waaaah!! anyways, I think your site is very professional but also you really do get the sense that you love your family(dogs) and that is what makes me tick!!! its great to know that there are people like you out there who still do this sport for the right reason : the love of our dogs!!!

sincerely,
misha from british columbia

Hello Stan and all the gang :-)

While working hard in the office, always on stress level, I love to think back to the wonderful time at Miortuk Kennel; the silence, the hard work of the dogs, the snow, the nature, etc. ... miss it ...

The first race is gone ... hope many more will follow and love to read your blog.

Good luck from Zurich
Franziska

Hello Stan,

My vacation at your chalet was wonderful. I came back very relaxed.
Thanks again for hosting me!=)

I hope you are doing fine and enjoying the quietness.

Guess what I am cooking right now...? I found these yellow split peas in our supermarket! YES UNE SOUPE AU POIS québécoise! Fabian and my parents are coming over tomorrow and I will make a québécois Easter brunch with pea soup, bacon, scrambled eggs and of course pancakes à lac Charland with MAPLE SYROUP!=)

Take care.

Hello,
Your site is nice, very nice, and I love your dogs.
I have a husky that looks like he could be Willie twin .. although he is much bigger and he has blue eyes. People are always telling me he is not a husky because he is black with shorter hair. He is definitely a husky in every way.
Thank you for the site I love it.

Hi to Kara from Jeff Getsinger in Newberg. I just heard what you are doing, looks like great fun but I know you are working hard. As I look at the pictures I am reminded of my time living in Alaska and watching the sled dogs and my time training hunting dogs. Both are great memories. I hope you are enjoying your time and learning some cool things. I would love to hear about your adventure sometime.

Blessings,

Jeff

I want to leave this comment just in case anyone is interested in joining Stan and his dogs at Miortuk Kennel as a handler. If you have been looking for an opportunity to work with and learn about sled dogs, live in the bush and develop a real sense of what winter is, all under the watchful eye of a great teacher, look no further! Stan is the BEST! I spent the winter of 2013 with him and we had an incredible time. Stan taught me so much about the winter sport that I had only ever been able to appreciate from afar as a born and bred desert kid from Arizona. We had a lot of great laughs, deep chats, and yummy dinners (haha even though I am a vegetarian and Stan is most definitely is not, we made it work ;D) I am so grateful to him for my time in Quebec and I miss the dogs a lot. Big hugs and kisses to Hinto, Bergen, Tanya and the rest of the gang =D

Miortuk kennel is one of the best place for real life in mushing! Stan Morgan shares all his life with you. He is a very generous person, always take care of people and listen to them.
When you have the privilege to be handler at Miortuk kennel, you are not a "worker"only, you are involved in a true life with mushing and also with love of dog.
We are very lucky to find such a friend! Thank you for your frienship!

Stan Morgan is a great teacher and musher. I had the pleasure of working with Stan and his team for the 2012-13 season up in Quebec. Stan is great with his dogs and not only has a huge love for them and mushing, but also for teaching young people like myself. Stan went out of his way to always make sure his dogs were safe and happy. He also went out of his way to make us handlers comfortable. He always made sure I never ran out of chocolate! Thanks a lot Stan! I had a great season and am glad we're friends!

Hi Stan! I just wanted to say after handling for Stan a few years ago, I still use the knowledge I had learned then. I ended up working for a glacier dogsled tour company for a summer after that and adopting a sleddog! Only one for now :) .

I spent the winter of 2014 here at Miortuk, it was an unforgettable experience ! Stan is a very generous person and he has a great knowledge about sled dogs. I adopted a dog for his kennel and I can tell by her confident behavior that she was bred with care and affection.
Stan gave me this incredible opportunity to live my dream in the best conditions possible. Stan's friendship is precious, deserve it !

A few winters ago I spent the racing season with Stan to learn more about the sport. It turned out to be one of the best experience or my life. I learnt so much had some great adventures and got an extended family! Although Stan is a control freak in the kitchen (hahaha) he was so welcoming and eager to teach it made the time so educational but the best part was he is still willing to learn himself and I am sure takes some knowledge from every handler/trainee that comes and works with him. Having now worked at other kennels I know that this is not usually the case and the relationship that he has with his dogs is from years of hard work not just on the sled but in the kennel building relationships. I will be back!

Thanks Stan for you generosity and I will come visit next time I'm in Canada!
