" NATURES FURY! "

Picture
Mother Nature put on a spectacular lightning show on Wednesday evening. The sound of the thunder rolling across the lake was at times deafening.

This week the weather was mostly hot & humid with lots of sunshine. The wet weather came in on Wednesday night and remained for the balance of the week with the occasional sunny breaks.

The wet, hot humid weather was ideal conditions for the Black Flies. But, soon they will be gone for another year leaving  beautiful opportunities to go fishing, kayaking, canoeing, boating and ATV.

Until next week.......

"WITH THE COMING OF SUMMER, COMES THE ARRIVAL OF BBQ SEASON!"

Picture
Yes, with the nice warm weather, BBQ season is officially here. Slow grilled and lightly hickory smoked, the chicken thighs and pork ribs are being prepared for a Summer feast.

The weather this week was nice and warm and now the humidity returns. Wednesday morning was beautiful day to go Trout fishing. It is too bad the fish didn't cooperate - NO FISH FOR SUPPER!

The Black Flies are still pesty, but soon they will be gone for another year.

Thursday, Charlie had a trip to the Veterinarian and had a cracked tooth (molar)  removed. He is feeling a lot better now.

The dogs are all doing well and are not overly bothered by the flies biting due to the addition of garlic powder to their feed. However, that still does not stop the flies from annoying the dogs by swarming around them.

Soon, the Black Fly season will be over for another year and we will return to paradise in the Northern Forest.

Until next week......

"ENJOYING NATURES BEAUTY IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"

Picture
Nature offered another beautiful sunset on Tuesday evening.

It was another week of mixed weather with sunny days mixed with cool wet ones. The changeable weather is causing an explosion of the Black Fly population. This year the number of flies are causing restrictions in outdoor activities. Hopefully, the numbers will start decline in the near future.

Most of the dogs are not being bit probably due to the addition of garlic powder in their feed.

The puppies are all doing well and due to the flies I spend more time with them in the evening. They all come running to the front of the whelping box when I open the door. They are really enjoying their playtime with me. Cannelle also enjoys her one on one time with me and likes to be babied.

Until next week......

"GREENING OF THE FOREST!"

Picture
With coming of Spring the forest takes on new vibrant colors. The lushness of the vegetation is the byproduct of last Winters snow and this Springs rain.

This last weeks weather had a bite of everything from beautiful, warm, sunny days to windy cooler ones and a little rain. The Black Flies have started to make their presence known with their biting and the annoying swarming around your head. The Swallows are having a feast on the flies as they soar and then swoop gathering them up to feed their young. The abundance of Black Flies and Mosquitoes are the reason the Swallows return every year to breed.

The puppies are getting far more inquisitive and exploring around the whelping pen, now that their eyes are open. They are a real treat to watch as they develop their walking skills. But as this is hard work, then Cannelle is busy satisfying their increasing need for feed.

Until next week....

"LA PETIT RAPIDES IN THE NORTHERN FOREST"

Picture
The photo is of a small rapids in a stream close to my chalet. This is a very peaceful area to sit quietly and ponder nature with soft sound of the water rushing over the rocks.

The weather here has still been cool for this time of year. On Sunday there were even snow showers. The good thing about the cool weather is the Black Flies and the Mosquitoes are not too plentiful.

The dogs in the kennel are getting use to hearing the puppies crying for their feedings. I am spending some delightful time with the Cannelle and her offspring.

Until next week......
