"LIFE IS CHANGING IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"  Yes, it is hard to believe but Fabian stay here ends tomorrow when he returns to Switzerland. The 6 months he spent here seemed to fly by in a hurry. The whole gang here at Miortuk will miss him. This week Fabians sister,Noemi , arrived from Switzerland to spend a week with us here in the Northern Forest. We had a good week with reasonably good weather and also had an opportunity to get the puppies out running in a team situation ( see updates on youtube ). Until next week...... " WELCOME TO SPRING 2010 IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"  Yes, Spring arrived this week and along with it some beautiful sunsets. This photo is an example of one. This was another week of warm sunny days and cool nights. We had a little rain on Friday night, but it didn't amount to much. The warm weather continues to cause an early snow melt with very little remaining. Even the lake is showing early signs of the ice starting to melt. The dogs continue to enjoy some relaxing and basking in the sunshine. All the adult dogs are enjoying the youthful activities of the puppies in the main kennel. I heard from Steven this week and he reported that the dogs he adopted are quickly getting accustomed to their new home. Hopefully, if the trails around the chalet dry up, we will get the puppies back out training this coming week. So, until next week..... Post Title. 03/14/2010
" BASKING IN SUNSHINE IN THE NORTHERN FOREST! "  As this photo shows, Coyute knows how to enjoy the great, warm weather here at Miortuk. ( more pictures of the dogs relaxing in the " Photo Section") It was a very busy and a beautiful week here with warm, sunny days and cool nights continuing from last week. With this warm weather the snow is disappearing rapidly. Since I have been here, I have never seen such a string of warm, sunny days this early in March. But beware, we have had large snow falls in April! On Saturday, Steven Pluigers from P.E. I. came and picked up the team of dogs he adopted and they all headed back to their new home. This will be a rewarding experience with lots of adventures for both the dogs and Steven. Welcome to the wonderful world of "mushing"! Saturday afternoon, the last 4 puppies were placed at their new homes in the adult kennel. Needless to say there was lots of excitement!!! Also this week, Cosmos ( brother of Goliate ) joined the Miortuk Team. He is adjusting well to his new home. This great weather is to continue into the following week. So, until next week...... "IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL WEEK HERE IN THE NORTHERN FOREST!"  Yes, it was a beautiful week here with clear blue skies, warm days and clear cool nights. Here Katie stands on a snow bank after a training run. The warm sunny days and below freezing nights have left the trails icy and hard making them not suitable for running the adults. However, the conditions were okay to get in three days of training the puppies. Please go to the Miortuk YouTube Site to see some of the puppy training. The weather for the next week is for more sunny, warm days. Life is good! Until next week...... |
